At Nature Playscapes, we specialize in the creation of immersive outdoor play environments. More than a playground for children, each space is transformed into an inclusive, intergenerational experience, inviting all ages to connect with nature, one another and their whole, best selves. Our approach integrates play value, inclusiveness, and ecological sensitivity, while aligning with recognized public playground safety standards, including appropriate CPSC, ASTM and LARA guidelines. We prioritize equitable access and intergenerational experiences through ADA-informed design, such as accessible routes, appropriate reach ranges, intuitive circulation, and meaningful play opportunities for people of all ages abilities.
We also incorporate sensory-inclusive design principles, balancing stimulation and retreat through varied textures, movement experiences, and low-sensory spaces by creating environments that support diverse developmental needs while encouraging comfort and exploration.
By designing with purpose, each play environment not only enriches communities today, but is built to adapt, endure, and inspire for generations to come.
Natural Materials
Our natural materials are carefully selected for their longevity, safety, and sustainability. By sourcing locally available stone, plantings, and organic logs, we craft playful, immersive environments that not only inspire exploration but also contribute to ecological restoration. This approach reduces reliance on carbon intensive, manufactured playground equipment while strengthening connections to the natural world.
Our work gives new purpose to organic wood waste by transforming invasive black locust, dense hardwoods, and storm-damaged trees into durable, meaningful community assets. Through this process, we actively support Michigan’s (or the project locations’) circular economy, turning discarded materials into long-lasting features that benefit both people and the environment.
When projects require higher-risk or engineered components, we partner with a carefully vetted network of U.S. based suppliers. This ensures exceptional quality while supporting domestic engineering and manufacturing jobs, and keeps materials responsibly sourced within the United States.
